Solar rebate cut

The Federal Government rebate for heat pump systems, which capture heat from the air and use it to warm water, has been cut from $1600 to $1000. The Environment Minister, Peter Garrett, said the cut, which takes effect tomorrow, was made because the systems were now cheaper. The rebate for solar hot water systems will stay at $1600.
