THE NT Cattlemen's Association has been spreading the virtues of solar energy to the Asia Pacific region. NTCA project manager Ian McLean addressed the International Solar Energy Society conference in Sydney last week and told the audience how people living in the most remote parts of NT were moving from diesel to solar energy.
"NT cattle stations have to be self-sufficient in many areas, including power generation," he said. "Around 15 per cent of stations have renewable energy systems in place at the moment, with the remainder reliant on diesel generators." The conference was attended by solar energy experts from across the Asia Pacific. Mr McLean said the NTCA was developing a simple step-by- step information brief.
